Sassy Stacey - 5 day direct access
I’ve finally done it…..For years I’ve been saying I want to get my Bike Licence, well now I have it!
I was Lucky, whilst working at Portsmouth Honda; they thanked me for my help and presented me with a Direct Access Voucher from 1st Castle Motorcycle Training in Cosham.
If any of you out there, keep saying the same thing, don’t delay just book it. Give 1St Castle Motorcycle Training a call on 0800 068 1892. 1St Castle are a great bunch
and I am so glad they taught me, they made me feel very comfortable and we had a laugh along the way. Maggie and Fat Bloke were the main people who taught me. So if your female
and worried about being taught by a guy, then Maggie is the girl for you, she is excellent, very understanding, listens to your concerns and helps in every way. 1St Castle appreciates
how nerve racking it can be and they are with you from start to finish. My first day the road, I was petrified and a joke down my intercom system soon put me right. When I was sitting at
traffic lights on a busy junction, Maggie could tell I was worried about making a prat of myself and she started to sing and I soon chilled out and was singing back in my helmet.
You are taught to look around whilst waiting at traffic lights, so you know exactly what’s going on, to help remind you of this important task, they say pretend to look out for beautiful babes and
gorgeous guys (depending on your interest) but obviously I had a good look.
I can highly recommend 1st Castle, not only are they a great bunch of people, they operate in such a lovely area, they have it all, rides along the Seafront, busy towns, quiet villages,
surrounding country roads and hills with great views out to sea. Now I feel ready to tackle any road!
Before you can have any practical training you will need to learn the Highway Code and relevant motorcycle information, as you have to take a Motorcycle Theory Test with the DSA. It consists of 50
multiple choice questions and at the end of this test, you have to take a hazard awareness test, both taken on a computer system. I’m not very good when it comes to tests, so I was thrilled to pass
1st time and on Friday the 13th May and I am quite superstitious, so if I can do it on that day, then any one can!
On the 15th June I passed my CBT 1st time, on a Honda 125. They start the day by teaching you on a coned car park, then after lunch your out on the road, such a mad feeling, I was excited and nervous
at the same time. I only got to go up to 30mph, but I loved it, under my helmet I was grinning like a Cheshire cat. When I got off the bike I was on such a high, they had to wait a little while before
I calmed down enough for me to ride back to the Training School.
My next step was to learn on a 500, I had 3 days training on this bike and then my test at the end of it, taken by a DSA Examiner. The Practical Test module 2 lasts for about 40 minutes, being instructed
where to go and what to do. It was the 7th July that I actually passed, once again 1st time, with only 4 minors, not bad for a blonde hey!
