INSTRUCTORS

PETER ANTHONY

Peter is a fully qualified ADI, and has been teaching Learner Drivers in the Portsmouth Area for over 16 years. He has a full Car, Motorcycle and Heavy Goods Vehicle Licence. He has passed all the Advanced Car Driving Tests at the highest levels, and is an Advanced Driving Instructor and Examiner. He has been awarded the Diploma in Driving Instruction, Further Adult Education Teacher’s Certificate, and Certificate in Education accredited by Southampton University. He also holds various City & Guilds qualifications; which include Motor Vehicle Maintenance. He is a Member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, Driving Instructor’s Association, and has been elected Member of the Institute of Master Tutors of Driving. He was an Army Cadet Force Instructor for over 25 years, holding the posts of Company Sergeant-Major, and then Staff Instructor, and is qualified to drive ‘off road’ in various military vehicle combinations. He also conducted Minibus Training and Assessment. He quite rightly boasts that he is Mountain Leader Trained, but admits that it was ‘a little while ago’. He plays the drums, although by his own admission not well, and not when his wife is around! His Training Car is a black Renault Megane Sport Hatch.

MATT BEST

Matt is a fully qualified ADI. He has been an instructor for a few years now and also teaches instructor training. Matt drives a Ford Fiesta (new shape).

TREVOR BAKER

Trevor is a fully qualified ADI. He qualified in 2005 after being an instructor for new recruits in the Navy. Trevor was in the Royal Navy for 18 years. Trevor was born in Portsmouth and grew up in Gosport. He is married with 2 children and a grandchild. He is very into Rugby and genealogy (family trees). He drives a Vauxhall Corsa.

BARRIE HOLMES

Barrie is a fully qualified ADI. Barrie has been an instructor for 19 years. Before this Barrie was a hackney carriage proprietor for 22 years, so has spent a lifetime on the roads! He is also a keen motorcyclist and interested in clay pigeon shooting and playing classical guitar. He drives a Ford Fiesta. Barrie is married with 4 children and 6 grandchildren.

PHIL LOGIE

Phil is a fully qualified ADI. Phil has been an instructor for 10 years and is a grade 5 instructor. He drives a Seat Ibiza. Phil is married with 2 teenage daughters, he loves sports, especially football and golf.

ROB SUMMERFIELD

Rob is a fully qualified ADI. He has been an instructor for 20 years and has been with 1st Castle for most of that. He drives a Renault Clio. Rob’s hobby is music; he is a bass guitarist and played in a pop rock band for many years.
